Charles Feeny qualified as a mediator with CEDR in 2016 and after the course was invited to join the CEDR Commercial Panel. He accepts instructions in mediation through CEDR and Complete Mediation. Complete Mediation is a digital sister company to Complete Counsel, which supports Charles’s practice as a barrister. Another sister company, Pro-VIDE Law, provides education and training on a pro bono basis.
Charles has been a barrister for over 40 years and has developed a strong reputation as a litigator in personal injury and clinical negligence, having achieved the status of Star Individual in both fields in the Chambers Directory. He undertakes mediation in his specialist areas of practice and is on the NHS Resolution Panel of Mediators. However, before becoming a specialist practitioner, Charles had a varied practice, including commercial and employment cases. He saw a similar workload when he sat as a Recorder in the County Court. Charles is also able to draw on experience as an active trustee in the third sector over a prolonged period. This means he is able to undertake mediation across a wide range of disputes, believing that skill as a mediator is key to a successful outcome rather than specialist knowledge of the dispute.
Charles relishes mediation as a second career. His earlier experiences as a mediator have mirrored his time as a junior barrister. He travels the country meeting a wide range of people with a diverse range of problems and, above all, gains satisfaction from, with some regularity at least, achieving a satisfactory outcome in what otherwise might acrimonious disputes.
